Every year, IMCHOG Member Kathy Miller helps coordinate annual enrollment for IMCHOG members who would like to join the Saint Alphonsus Life Flight Program. Saint Alphonsus Life Flight provides advanced medical care and rapid air transport of critically injured and ill patients in life-threatening situations. The Life Flight crew are highly experienced pilots, flight nurses and paramedics trained to handle virtually any medical emergency and respond to rescues in any type of terrain. The nurses have extensive experience in critical care and advanced clinical nursing, requiring work experience in intensive care, cardiac care, cardiovascular care, and emergency departments. The paramedics bring critical experience in response scene management, triage, extrication and rescue, communications, and advanced clinical practice.

Listed below are 10 reasons you should sign up for Life Flight:

1. Life Flight covers you 24/7 for 365 days a year. You are covered for ALL activities, not just when you ride your motorcycle.
2. Life Flight works with your existing health insurance carrier to pay the cost of transportation to a trauma center. If you have no health insurance, Life Flight will cover the entire cost of the flight.
3. By signing up through our motorcycle club, Life Flight gives us a discount on membership prices: Family memberships are $35 a year for husband, wife and kids up to the age of 23 (if still living at home). A single membership is $35 for a year.
4. You may sign up extended family members as long as you are willing to be the personal contact at renewal time, to make sure they fill out an application and send their payment to our club. Everyone must complete a membership application, whether for new memberships or renewal memberships.
5. Membership through the motorcycle club runs from August 1 through July 31 of each year. If you are a NEW member, Life Flight will cover you from the date you write your check (thereby giving you extra months/days of coverage for free the first year.)
6. The sign up period for all members is March 1 through June 1, 2009 -- information will be provided to chapter members in February/March. All applications and money must be turned into the Chapter Treasurer by June 1, 2009. The club will write one check to Intermountain HOG for all the membership money collected.
7. Life Flight will issue membership cards during the month of July and August to all members for the coming year. Decals are available for your cars, motorcycles, boats, ATVs, etc.
8. Life Flight covers a 75 minute flying time radius around the Boise area -- click here for a map. There are affiliated partners who cover areas in Northern California, Oregon, Idaho, and some parts of Montana, Washington State, and Wyoming.
9. Saint Alphonsus Light Flight is also partnered with St. Luke's Life Flight so you may be flown to either trauma center on a reciprocating basis.
